Abstract

With the deepening advancement of intelligent manufacturing, China's manufacturing industry is undergoing a strategic transition from "equipment intelligence upgrading" to "talent intelligence upgrading." Taking the automation transformation of a heavy-duty truck welding workshop as a case study, this paper conducts an in-depth analysis of the practical process through which 30 traditional welders were reshaped into 15 versatile professional operators and maintenance technicians via a systematic and forward-looking "New Craftsmen" training model. From the perspective of economic management and in line with the common patterns of automation upgrading in the automobile manufacturing industry, this study demonstrates the significant value of this model in enhancing return on investment, reducing total cost of ownership, strengthening organizational resilience, and fostering a sustainable talent pipeline. The aim is to provide a referential practical pathway for the manufacturing industry to treat human capital investment and equipment technology investment equally and to maximize the efficiency of human-machine integration.
