Against the backdrop of market relations and the knowledge economy, copyright protection plays a crucial role in safeguarding the rights and interests of creators and promoting the innovative development of society. This paper takes the Civil Code of the Republic of Belarus and the Law on Copyright and Related Rights as the core texts to explore the legal nature of copyright within Belarus' civil legislation system. The paper systematically sorts out the historical evolution of copyright legislation, analyzes its position in the modern civil rights system, and points out that copyright and related rights constitute two sub-systems under intellectual property law, which are jointly regulated by the basic law and special laws. It focuses on the subjects and objects of copyright, as well as the connotation, characteristics, and protection mechanisms of personal non-property rights and property rights (exclusive rights) enjoyed by authors. The research shows that Belarus' copyright system is relatively complete, but it still needs further improvement in addressing the challenges of new technologies and refining the right system.
