University libraries, as important venues for college students' study and life, are undergoing a profound transformation in their spatial form and service functions from "document storage" to "spiritual refuge". This paper introduces the concept of "emotional value" as a tool to construct a theoretical analysis framework for the emotional value of reading spaces in university libraries, and explores the mechanisms and paths for spatial reconfiguration to achieve therapeutic functions. The study holds that emotional value is the product of emotional interaction between the reading space and readers. The space stimulates readers' emotional experiences through three levels: material carriers, behavioral interactions, and meaning construction, thereby achieving therapeutic functions such as emotional soothing, psychological support, and spiritual growth. Currently, there are problems such as single sensory experience, insufficient behavioral support, and lack of meaning identification in the emotional value supply of university library reading spaces. Based on this, the paper proposes spatial reconfiguration strategies from three dimensions: instinctive level, behavioral level, and reflective level, and combines domestic and foreign typical cases to design the functional positioning and design key points of different types of therapeutic spaces. The research provides a new perspective of "emotional value" for the construction of university library spaces, which is conducive to promoting the transformation of libraries from "functional spaces" to "therapeutic places".
