Abstract

In the context of educational digital transformation, augmented reality (AR) has become an important driver of innovation in higher education due to its integration of virtual information with physical environments. AR not only supports knowledge acquisition but also enhances cognitive engagement, learning experience, and knowledge transfer. By creating immersive learning situations and increasing interaction and participation, AR helps students apply classroom knowledge to real-world contexts, thereby deepening and widening learning. However, its implementation is constrained by high hardware costs, complex scenario design, limited teacher competence, insufficient curriculum alignment, and the lack of evaluation systems. This study examines the educational value of AR through immersion, interaction, and transfer, identifies technical and institutional barriers, and proposes optimization strategies for curriculum design, teacher development, institutional support, and educational governance. The findings provide theoretical insights and practical guidance for the sustainable use of AR in higher education.
